Boereradio Rockfees / Boer Radio Rock Festival

The War Museum presents: 8 October 2019

A Boer Radio Rock festival during the 120th anniversary of the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902.

Come and enjoy an open air concert at the War Museum (Women's Monument) in Bloemfonteins amphitheatre with famous artists Radio Kalahari Orkes, as well as the local talent of Dirk en die Republiek, Jacobus Silver en Band as well as Thabo Hlongwane. The theme music and background image of the TV series Arende will be used throughout and the tale of Sprinkane met Kamaste, one of Siener van Rensburg's visions about himself, General de la Rey and President Steyn, will be presented by a great-grandson of President Steyn, Colin Steyn. Radio Kalahari Orkes will sing their famous song about this tale and Jacobus Silver and Band will also perform the song Emily Hobhouse.

Cash food stalls and a cash bar will be available. No own food or drink is allowed. Please bring your own chairs or blankets. Also bring your own candles and matches as there will be a minute of silence during which the candles will be lit in memory of all the women and children who died in the Concentration Camps.

Also, come dressed in your best Anglo-Boer War period dress as there will be a prize for the best dressed adult and child.
